In partnership with the Lakeshore Planning Council and Cycle Toronto, the Etobicoke- South Cycling Committee will be holding a meeting on April 11 from 7 to 9 PM.
Our main issue is we want to have a visioning session for Wards 5 and 6. What connections to the existing bike lanes do we want? What infrastructure is missing? How do we connect to other areas of the city?
Our agenda is as follows:
1. Cycle Toronto held its annual meeting on March 27. Updates on what happened.
2. The TDSB cycling transportation subcommittee update.
Please join us for the initial planning meeting for the 2013 edition of Bells on Danforth, a family-friendly group bike ride along the Danforth. We welcome parents, kids, schools, local groups, businesses, and BIAs to help us make this a great, annual community event. The ride will take place this year on Saturday, May 11 -- for more details about the ride, see SAVE THE DATE, at the bottom.

The City of Toronto is working with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) to study options for a multi-use trail system within the East Don Corridor between the north end of Charles Sauriol Conservation Area, the Lower Don Trail System, and Gatineau Corridor Trail.
Currently, there is a significant gap in the multi-use trail network within the East Don Corridor. The purpose of the East Don Trail Environmental Assessment Study is to determine a preferred trail route within this existing gap. This proposed trail will:

Metrolinx is hosting 2 public meetings in Toronto next week about the Big Move, one in North York on Feb 5th and one at Metro Hall on Feb 9th.
Cycling is an important feature of the Big Move. According to the plan, after the Big Move, 60% of children will walk or bike to school & 1 in 5 trips will be taken by walking or cycling across the region.
From early reports from the first few meetings, cycling hasn't been mentioned frequently. I need to confirm this, but I've also heard that their presentation boards largely skip over cycling.
The purpose of this next meeting is to remove funding from the Sherway Trail project, effectively killing it for the foreseeable future.
This project is a key multi-use trail linkage underneath the QEW, connecting the Etobicoke Valley Trail to the south with Sherway Drive to the north.
Construction was expected to begin 3 years ago, but the MTO has still not granted permission to or even entered into meaningful discussion about allowing the trail to cross its land (beneath and adjacent to the QEW).

Our main issue is we want to have a visioning session for Wards 5 and 6. What connections to the exisitng bike lanes do we want? What infrastructure is missing? How do we connect to other areas of the city and to Mississauga?
Our agenda is as follows:
1. The TDSB cycling transportation subcommittee update.
The Pan Am Games are coming and Etobicoke will be hosting many of the Cycling events.
There is a real opportunity for infrastructure in Etobicoke. In response, the Etobicoke South Cycling Committee is forming a subcommittee to look at the opportunities that will be available. Cycling improvements in Centennial Park, getting some bike trails and connections with Mississauga have already been identified.
This meeting is open to anyone interested in cycling issue or in the Pan Am Games
