Bike 2 CAP AIDS Bike-a-thon 2010

AIDS in Africa is a big problem – perhaps the greatest health crisis in history. Over 160,000 people die of AIDS every month in Africa. But, we don’t need to be overwhelmed and numbed by the statistics. We can make a difference and have a positive impact - that's why CAP AIDS will host our 7th annual Bike 2 CAP AIDS Bike-a-Thon event at the Ashbridges Bay Yacht Club in Toronto.

The event will be a fun-filled, family-friendly way for Canadians to make a difference in the deadly serious fight against HIV AIDS in Africa. In 2010, the Bike 2 CAP AIDS Bike-a-thon event has two practical and important goals:

  1. 170 local African heroes will be supported with a new bicycle and other supports. With a sustainable and affordable means of transportation, these local heroes can provide HIV AIDS prevention, care, and support services to 5 times as many people, and have a much bigger impact;
  2. 130 AIDS-orphaned African youth will be provided with vocational skills training. With a skilled vocation, orphaned youth can gain employment, earn a better living, rebuild their confidence, and care for their younger siblings.

We need your support to reach this goal! Together, by achieving these goals we will make a direct, grassroots contribution in the fight to resist, survive and overcome AIDS. Here is how you can help:
