Bike Sauce's Grand Opening
Bike Sauce – located at 717 Queen Street East (corner of Broadview) – is having its Grand Opening on Saturday, April 17th from 12-5pm.
Bike Sauce is a Toronto-based volunteer-run organization focused on demystifying the bike and promoting participation in Toronto's cycling plans and programs. The vision for Bike Sauce is to provide a hub in the East End that includes an affordable repair facility and a social space for members of the community to explore the myriad benefits of cycling.
Bike Sauce is a non-profit corporation mandated to promote cycling as a means of environmental protection, public health promotion and community building. It will achieve this through four objectives: 1) provide a donation-based, pay-what-you-can bicycle repair facility that empowers all cyclists with the confidence to safely maintain and ride their bikes and promotes a do-it-yourself culture; 2) provide institutional support and resources to citizens’ and community groups’ advocacy efforts and community-based initiatives; 3) promote cycling as a primary means of
transportation; and 4) provide an inclusive, free drop-in space for individuals and groups.
The space houses a DIY space where users can come and learn how to repair and maintain their bikes as well as a social space with couches where anyone can come, hang out and connect with other residents interested in promoting vibrant communities.
